Plating – What Does 18k Gold Plated Actually Mean?

Our gold-coloured jewellery has genuine 18k gold plating and the silver-coloured pieces rhodium plating – the same finishing used on fine jewellery. Here we explain what that means, how long it lasts and how to look after it.

What is plating?

A thin layer of real gold or rhodium is applied to a base metal – you get the luxurious finish at a kinder price.

18k gold or rhodium?

18k gold gives the warm golden tone, rhodium the cool silver tone – both are nickel-free and kind to sensitive skin. Many of our designs come in both.

How long does the plating last?
